Presenters have submitted abstracts and the retreat is filling up quickly. In order to avoid potential participants from missing out, late registrations have been extended to 30 July 2009. A flyer is available for your reading.

Overview

At the Education Retreat held in Canberra in August 2007, it was agreed that during the 3rd week in August of every year, the Australian Sai Organisation will celebrate "Education Week". Our focus during this week will be on Sathya Sai Education which involves all the five wings of the Organisation. This year the National Education week is scheduled from 17th to 23rd August 2009.

The Education Week will be preceded by Education Retreat that will be held in Canberra during 15th & 16th of August 2009. The theme for this retreat is "Pathways to Self-Discovery".

The retreat will focus on the innovative application of Sathya Sai Education. There will be Workshops and seminars on:

• Newly inducted teachers and their learning journey
• Ongoing review by the Sathya Sai Foundation
• Pre-primary, Groups 3 and 4
• Teacher's training forum and sharing of ideas

Call for Abstracts:

Inviting abstracts of 200 words on the following topics (to be submitted in MS Word format 2003 to sairetreatcanberra2009@gmail.com by May 15 2009):

• Financial crisis and human values
• Human Values
• in the workplace
• in management
• and the environment
• and animal welfare

2009 Education Retreat Forms

Suggested activities for the Education Week:

The theme is on Sathya Sai Education and not on Sai Spiritual Education (SSE). The aim of the week is for all devotees to gain a thorough understanding of how Sathya Sai Education weaves into every activity of every Wing within the Organisation. Therefore, intense focus and participation by all the wings in the National Education Week is highly recommended.

Discussions, reflections, workshops or talks are some suggested activities to fully raise awareness on the following:

• Spiritual Wing - How study circles and Dynamic Parenting workshops lead to self-discovery
• Education Wing - How SSE classes for all the groups help not just the children but also the teachers in self-discovery.
• Service Wing - How social service is a pathway for self-discovery.
• Ladies Wing - How Love@Home program is a pathway for self-discovery.
• Youth Wing - How Love@Work program is a pathway for self-discovery.
