Uturn Philosophy

The Sathya Sai Uturn Training School is a Non Government programme that is totally free to participating students and is operated by volunteers. The programme is supported by the Sathya Sai Organisation of Australia and Papua New Guinea and is coordinated by the participants of the local Sai Organisation zone. The training programme is based on Sathya Sai Educare, manual skills and positive encouragement. The programme is suitable for male and female students aged 12 to 14 years who been assessed by their school as having special needs and require additional support. We have selected for the students a range of craft, trade and life skills that are supported and demonstrated by our volunteer facilitators and mentors. These volunteers provide the mentor relationship during these activities. We are committed to providing a quality service to the students and the community.

The programme is underpinned each week by a simple self-examination activity and a discussion session which focuses on five basic principles of Watch your Words, Actions, Thoughts, Character, and your Heart. (W.A.T.C.H.) Additional to this is Trust which is the basis for the programme. The programme uses other simple word values to draw out from the student their awareness of the meanings for WATCH and its effect on them. This then leads into other areas that focus on the establishment of Good Character and self-confidence.

The combination of Sathya Sai Educare and these activities, gives the programme a unique training experience for both students and mentors.

This process brings out their true self and provides the opportunity to expand their character in a positive way. The programme operates on a weekly basis with separate campuses for male and female students.

The Basis of U-Turn is Educare as given by Sathya Sai Baba. We work from the knowingness that we are all sparks of the Divine. The task of Mentors, Facilitators, Volunteers is to develop that Heart to Heart Connection with the Students and draw out the innate Divinity - Conscience. We base our behaviour on the 5 Human Values, especially Love which we demonstrate through 3HV, unity of Heart, Head, Hand, and Non - Violence which is the boundary.

The outcome for the Adults is in deeper understanding of the 5D's leading to personal transformation on the path to self awareness. The Students develop the tools of W.A.T.C.H., Trust and awareness of the Diamond within to lead to Self Confidence.

Additional to this is the type of activity chosen by the students which is currently Blacksmithing and General Craft. The school operates from two sites with three campuses during each school term providing individual student support on an ongoing basis allowing the mentor to hand on his/her life skills and wisdom.

2. Through the Craft

Again coming from the principles of Educare we use the innate creativity of us all through Art from the Heart, 3HV By participating in the creation of objects with iron, steel, wood, wool, fabric, paint, clay, etc. we experience many mediums of expression and contact through the many processes.

3. Human Attributes

Again following from Educare understanding through 3H.V. Adults and Students are given the opportunity to experience many Human Values in action. As each participant is ready he/she can begin to practice the skills in a secure environment. With positive reinforcement and support these attributes can become part of our transformation in human growth.
